Israel Declares ‘State Of Emergency’ Amid Escalating War With Lebanon’s Hezbolla

The Israeli government has announced a nationwide state of emergency until September 30 due to the escalating conflict with Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. The decision was made by the cabinet on Monday night in response to anticipated rocket attacks from Hezbollah.

Under this declaration, the Israeli army has been granted powers to issue instructions to the public, including banning gatherings and limiting studies to ensure safety. The move follows an Israeli assassination attempt on Ali Karaki, a top Hezbollah commander, with airstrikes targeting southern Beirut.

Last Friday, Hezbollah fired 140 rockets into northern Israel in retaliation for a mass bombing attack in Lebanon, which resulted in significant casualties. Hezbollah claimed to have targeted several Israeli sites, including air defense bases and the headquarters of an armored brigade.

They vowed revenge for the violence, blaming Israel for detonating pagers that killed at least eight people and injured over 2,700 others, including Hezbollah fighters.
