In a critical blow to Hezbollah, Israeli airstrikes in Beirut's southern suburbs killed Ibrahim Qubaisi, the commander of Hezbollah's rocket division, along with five others. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group.

The strike occurred as Israel intensified its military campaign against Hezbollah, which has been launching rockets into Israel in support of Hamas amid the nearly year-long conflict in Gaza. The targeted airstrike hit a building in the densely populated Ghobeiry neighborhood, killing six people and injuring 15, according to Lebanon's health ministry.

Israeli military officials have stated their commitment to ramping up pressure on Hezbollah, with continued airstrikes across Lebanon. Fears are growing that the escalating violence could lead to a broader regional war, particularly as Israel combats both Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.

Earlier airstrikes resulted in heavy casualties, with Lebanese authorities reporting over 500 deaths, including women and children, and thousands of people injured or forced to flee their homes. The latest attack has intensified international concerns about the potential for a full-scale conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
