General Discussion / Minimize Suffering in Southwes...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 18, 2024, 03:16 PM
President Bola Tinubu has received advice from Muslims in the South-West, who are represented by the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), to increase efforts to lessen suffering in the nation.

The call was made at the 9th MUSWEN General Assembly on Sunday by Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, President of MUSWEN and Deputy President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, the Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, and Professor Isiaq Lakin Akintola, Director of Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, were all present at the event, according to the DAILY POST.

Speaking at the event, Oladejo insisted that extreme caution should be exercised in handling the nation's current economic predicament.

He counseled Tinubu to act more humanely and implement policies that would lessen the nation's overall suffering.

Speaking further, Oladejo urged Tinubu to use the money saved by eliminating subsidies for projects that would increase security, infrastructure, electrification, food production, and job creation.

He went on to say that importing food should not be taken into consideration because it would be a mockery of the removal of subsidies.

Oladejo also pleaded with Tinubu to pay attention to Nigerians' concerns about the proposed tax reform bill.

The speaker urges the President to address the current economic situation in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for caution and humane measures to alleviate suffering. He acknowledges that the situation is not the result of the Tinubu administration but believes the government should make life comfortable for the people. He also urges the people to avoid politicians who have never seen anything good in the administration, as they view any actions as politicized.

The government's economic policies aim to correct past maladministration and improve the country's economic foundation. They suggest focusing on security, infrastructure development, electrification, food production, and employment-generating projects. They caution against food importation as it undermines subsidy removal. MUSWEN supports distribution of palliatives to the needy.

News / Sanusi Acknowledged by Shettim...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 18, 2024, 03:05 PM
Following Vice President Kashim Shettima's designation of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, there have been reactions.

According to Daily Trust, the Vice President referred to Sanusi as the 16th Emir on his official Facebook page and other social media accounts. This prompted social media users to react, interpreting it as a support for Sanusi's right to the Kano throne.

Two emirs have emerged in the state: Sanusi and Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir, although the Kano Emirates dispute is still pending in court.

The first line of the post says, "I was present at the wedding of the daughter of former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso on Saturday.

"Kwankwaso married Fahad, the son of business tycoon Alhaji Dahiru Mangal of Katsina, to his daughter, Dr. Aishatu Kwankwaso.

"Prof. Sani Zahraddeen, the Chief Imam of Kano, presided over the wedding that was held at the palace of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano.

"I expressed my sincere hopes for a lifetime of happiness with the newlyweds."

However, following a few social media user reactions, the post's third paragraph was later changed to remove the emir's name.

It now says: "Prof. Sani Zahraddeen, the Chief Imam of Kano, conducted the wedding that was held at the Kano Emir's palace."

Alhassan Ali Lawan, a social media user, responded by saying, "Your Excellency, we are happy that you accepted the invitation! We are also pleased that our emir has been recognized as Kano State's sixteenth emir. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, PhD, the presidential candidate, wishes you a safe and happy return home! Again, thank you!

Najeeb Sule Alfindi, another user, commented, "The third paragraph, where you stated that it took place at the palace of the Emir of Kano and then you mentioned who is the Emir Muhammad Sunusi II, is the best paragraph that impresses me." Thank you, sir.

According to Musa Kabir, "Masha Allah! We sincerely appreciate your attendance, Your Excellency, on behalf of the good people of Kano State. I am confident that you can bring this nation's six geopolitical zones together. Second, I thought your statement about the 16th Emir of Kano State was excellent. We have chosen Malam Sunusi Lamido Sunusi, and I hope that you will lead this country in the future.

General Discussion / Indeed, Allah Won't Alter A Pe...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 16, 2024, 02:43 PM
Analysis of the passage where Allah states: "Truly, Allah will not alter a people's (good) state as long as they do not alter their own state (of goodness) by committing sins and by being unthankful and disobedient to Allah)." [Al-Ra'd 13:11]

What does the statement "Verily, Allaah will not change the (good) condition of a people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allaah)" [al-Ra'd 13:11] convey?.

Glory to Allah.
This significant verse states that unless the people themselves change their circumstances, Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, in His perfect justice and wisdom, does not alter their state from good to bad or from bad to good, from ease to hardship or from hardship to ease. As a result, if they are in a state of righteousness and goodness and they change, Allah will change their circumstances by punishing them with calamities, hardships, drought, famine, disunity, and other punishments that are appropriate retribution. "And your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) slaves," says Allah (interpretation of the meaning) in Fusilat 41:46.

Or He might give them a break and some time to turn to the right path, but if they don't, He will take them by surprise, as He states (interpretation of the meaning): "Therefore, when they forgot (the warning) that they had been reminded of, We opened the gates of all (pleasant) things for them, until suddenly, while they were enjoying what they had been given, We took them (as punishment), and lo! They were thrown into destruction with profound regrets and sorrows." [al-An'aam 6:44], which means to despair of all goodness—we seek refuge in Allah to avoid Allah's wrath and punishment. Or, as Allah states (interpretation of the meaning), they might be granted a reprieve until the Day of Resurrection, when their punishment will be more severe:

According to Ibraaheem 14:42, "Do not think that Allah does not know what the Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrongdoers) do, but He grants them rest until a day when the eyes will gaze in horror." This means that they are granted rest until after death, which will be a more severe and profound punishment.

Because of their good deeds and their repentance to Allah, may He be exalted, they may be in a state of evil and sin, but then they turn back to Him, repent of their sins, and obey Him. As a result, Allah transforms their state of misery, hardship, and poverty into one of ease, unity, and righteousness. "That is so because Allah will never change a grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what is in themselves," reads another verse (an interpretation of the meaning) [al-Anfaal 8:53].

According to this verse, if they are in a state of ease, comfort, and goodness, they will either change and turn to sin, or they will be given respite, as mentioned above, or their circumstances will change because they have no power or strength except Allah. The converse is also true: if they were in a state of evil and sin, or disbelief and misdirection, and they turn from their sins and commit to obeying Allah, Allah will transform their circumstances from undesirable to favorable; He will transform their disarray into harmony and unity; He will transform their hardship into ease, prosperity, and plenty; He will transform their predicament from one of drought, starvation, and water scarcity to one of rainfall, fertile land, and other positive things. Finish the quote.

Business / Islamic Law Regarding Acceptab...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 16, 2024, 02:34 PM
The following requirements must be met in order to invest money in profit-sharing schemes and with businesses that operate in this industry:

1. If the requirements for immediate exchange are fulfilled when selling gold for cash or silver, and if the requirement that the exchange be completed immediately in equal amounts when selling gold for gold, the company will engage in legal activities, including selling gold.

2. Unless the business has gone too far or been careless, the capital should not be guaranteed, so it should not promise to return the capital in the event of a loss. This is because this transaction is actually a loan if the capital is guaranteed in every situation, and any benefits it provides are considered Riba.

3. Although it should be defined as a percentage of the profits rather than the capital, the profit should be known and agreed upon. For instance, one partner might get a third, half, or twenty percent of the profits, with the other partner receiving the remaining portion.

If the profit is defined as a specific sum, as a percentage of the capital, or as unknown and undefined, the contract is void. According to Islamic jurists, in these situations, this kind of partnership is void.

May Allah grant him mercy, Ibn Al-Mundhir stated:

"All of the scholars from whom we acquired knowledge have agreed that a (profit-sharing) partnership becomes invalid if one or both parties stipulate that he will receive a specific amount of money . Among those from whom we learned that are Malik, Al-Awza`i, Ash-Shafa`i, Abu Thawr and Ashab Ar-ra'y." (Al-Mughni 5/23).

It says in Matalib Uli'n-Nuha (3/517):

"If he says: Take this (money) and do business with it, and you will have a portion of the profit, or you will be a partner in the profit, or you will have something of the profit, or a share of the profit, that is not valid because it is unknown, and a profit-sharing partnership is not valid if the shares of profit are unknown."

It is acceptable to interfere if these requirements are satisfied.

Quran / This Week's Verse: Accepting H...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 16, 2024, 02:28 PM
As Allah has reminded us in these potent verses, let us consider the value of kindness and humility this week.

Allah says:

"And do not walk upon the earth with exultance; indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height."
(Surah Al-Isra, 17:37).

Allah reminds us of our limitations in this verse. Regardless of our level of success, wealth, or power, we are still Allah's servants living on His planet. Being arrogant won't make us better or stronger. Rather, it separates us from Allah's preferred humility.

Additionally, the tale of Qarun serves as a sobering reminder of the perils of arrogance:

"Indeed, Qarun was from the people of Musa, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men. His people said to him, 'Do not exult. Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant.'"
(Surah Al-Qasas, 28:76)

Qarun was extremely wealthy, but his arrogance caused him to lose sight of the fact that Allah was the source of his blessings. We run the risk of becoming like Qarun when we despise other people or take pride in our accomplishments, failing to remember that Allah can take as easily as He gives. Let this serve as a reminder that humility and thankfulness, not wealth or prestige, are the true markers of honor.

Allah also issues the following warning:
"And do not turn your cheek in contempt toward people, and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful."
(Surah Luqman, 31:18)

How we treat other people is a reflection of who we really are. Allah disapproves of actions that turn people away, treat them with contempt, or brag about our achievements. Since everyone is equal in Allah's eyes, we are reminded to treat each other with kindness, gentleness, and humility.

Since Allah is the source of everything we own, let's pledge to treat everyone with dignity and compassion today. Let's remember that pride can be a dangerous path, speak kindly, and walk with humility.

May Allah protect us from the conceit that misleads us and give us the humility of the righteous. Ameen.

History / Ciroman Kano, the first son of...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 16, 2024, 02:14 PM
Family members, friends, and dignitaries flocked to the Kano royal palace on Friday to watch Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, turban DSP Aminu Sanusi Lamido as the Ciroman Kano.

According to LEADERSHIP, a crown prince and heir apparent in the Kano Emirate system are traditionally given the title of "Ciroma," which has great historical significance. It also comes with obligations, such as managing specific Emirate districts.

Until his death in the 1990s, Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, the grandfather of the new Ciroman Kano, DSP Aminu Sanusi Lamido, retained the same customary title. Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who was removed in 2024 after serving as the Emir of Bichi, was the most recent holder of the title. DSP Aminu is now the 17th person to hold the esteemed title.

During the ceremony, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II stated that his son was selected due to his community service, philanthropy, and loyalty. "I decided to give him this crown in recognition of his kindness and generosity," the Emir said.

He also commended DSP Aminu's work at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), his contributions as a police officer, and his academic accomplishments. You will be the seventeenth person to hold the title of Ciroma, which you inherited from your grandfather. In addition, he urged him to imitate the virtues of discipline and respect, saying, "I urge you to walk in the path of righteousness they have paved."

DSP Aminu Sanusi thanked God and the Emir for the honor in his acceptance speech. He said, "I express my gratitude to His Highness for this honor and promise to serve the Kano Emirate with diligence."

Numerous well-known people attended the event, including clerics, holders of traditional titles, prominent businesspeople in the state, Kano State Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

General Discussion / Nigerian Man: "Only Islamic La...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 16, 2024, 02:08 PM
According to a man from northern Nigeria, Nigeria can only be transformed by Islamic law.

Call me whatever you want, but only Islamic law has the power to transform this nation, wrote the social media user @sarki_sultan.

The social media user's bio indicates that he is a UK resident.

The question of whether Nigeria is now an Islamic country has been raised by Nigerians in response to President Bola Tinubu's attendance at the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, earlier this week.

Additionally, it comes just two weeks after the House of Representatives rejected a bill that sought to amend the constitution to make Sharia law more than just a personal matter.

The bill should be rejected, according to Osun State lawmaker Bamidele Salam, because it could jeopardize the freedom that all Nigerian religions enjoy.

News / Israel "destroyed." Iran's Cov...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 16, 2024, 01:58 PM
US and Israeli sources claim that Israel's attack on the Islamic Republic last month damaged a covert Iranian nuclear weapons research center.

The facility, located 20 miles east of Tehran, is reportedly being utilized to develop the explosive mechanism required to set off a nuclear bomb, according to US authorities.

According to the Institute for Science and International Security, three additional nearby buildings that were being used to manufacture solid fuel for ballistic missiles were also destroyed by Israeli strikes.

According to earlier reports, Taleghan 2, a component of the Parchin military complex, was shut down in 2003.

However, early this year, US intelligence identified Iranian scientists working at the site on projects that would "lay the ground for the production of a nuclear weapon."

Few were aware of the site's objective.
According to US and Israeli sources, this involved computer modeling, explosive testing, and metallurgy.

Only a few people within the Iranian regime knew the true objective of the Taleghan 2 facility since it was so covert.

It was classified as a high secret. A small part of the Iranian government knew about this, but most of the Iranian government didn't," one US official told the Axios news site.

After activity was detected at the site, the US sent a private warning to the Iranian regime. It was hoped that Iran would then cease operations, but nuclear activity continued, officials said.

In July, the US director of national intelligence delivered a report to Congress, which warned that Iran had "undertaken activities"

Last Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared, "Iran is not after nuclear weapons, period."

Trump's approach of "maximum pressure"
Since Hamas, supported by Iran, launched the October 7 strikes on southern Israel in 2023, Israel has been embroiled in a multifront conflict.
The next day, Hezbollah, which is also backed by the Iranian government, intensified its strikes on Israel from Lebanon.

Additionally, militias supported by Iran have often fired on Israel from Iraq and Yemen.

Israel and Iran have also launched direct attacks on one another. Israel attacked Iran on October 25 in reprisal for Tehran's October 1 mass missile assault on the Jewish state.

The Iranian delegation to the UN, according to Axios, declined to comment on its claim.

News / Nigerians Should Quit Castigat...
Last post by Suyuti - Nov 05, 2024, 02:15 AM
Sa'ad Mohammad Abubakar II, the Sultan of Sokoto, warned Nigerians on Monday not to criticise their leaders and to leave things to God.

Abubakar urged Nigerians to keep praying for their leaders and the country, emphasising that nothing, good or terrible, lasts forever.

The Sultan further cautioned Nigerian officials that they will be held responsible for their deeds by the Almighty on the Day of Resurrection, and that no one will be able to defend them in front of their Creator.

Noting that 90% of those who listen to religious leaders in churches and mosques see them as saviours, he also counselled religious leaders against deceiving their followers for their own benefit.

The Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith, in partnership with International Alert, convened the Regional Conference on Climate Change-Induced Conflicts in Northern Nigeria on Monday, where the Sultan made these statements.

"Try your hardest to worship Allah (God) and leave the rest to Him, not to anybody else," he stated. Avoid following someone who will mislead you. This nation has seen a lot of events, and we feel that we need to turn back to Allah. Increase the number of prayers offered at all mosques for our nation. The CAN President is here, and I think he will say the same thing, so I won't bring up churches.

"Many people claim that we have never had it so terrible, but relief will arrive no matter how challenging things get. We think that neither happy times nor bad times last forever.

"Let's encourage our followers to pray for our leaders and step up prayers in our congregations. We shall not judge them; instead, we will let Almighty Allah handle them anyway He sees fit. "Allah will ask us all what we did with the leadership that was given to us on earth," one of the speakers stated.

Each of us will be alone ourselves on that day; no one will be there to help us. No special adviser or SSG will be present, and no deputy governor will represent the governor.

As I repeat all the time, you are on your own. All of us will be by ourselves. In all we do, let us be afraid of Allah and offer prayers for our nation. We are fortunate; see the world by travelling to other nations. We do experience difficulties, but they are temporary. We can improve as a nation if we put in the effort and dedication.

"The North has numerous issues, including poverty and insecurity in an area that was formerly known for progress and peace, in addition to a lack of information regarding climate change. "We are all coming together as a single family in the North for this meeting.

There are a lot of misconceptions and false statements made by people who are attempting to split us. They are aware of the North's considerable power, both in Nigeria and internationally.

"Any obstacle may be overcome if we band together. We can build a better, more affluent community if we band together. This explains why there are so many disparaging remarks spoken about particular topics—remarks that are meant to split us apart even if we know they are false.

The Most Reverend Dr. D.C. Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, stated in his speech that climate change is a humanitarian problem that needs immediate action and that it is a reality in the North. As a way ahead, he recommended tackling all causes of conflict, such as poverty, injustice, and limited access to resources.

Additionally, he emphasised the need of environmental stewardship and the necessity of educating the public about the effects of climate change.
