Saudi Environment Ministry Launched The First Urban Farm Inside Stores

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched a unique urban vertical farm project for food markets and stores, allowing customers to purchase fresh food products.

Riyadh's ministry plans to launch 600 to 1,000 vertical farms across all markets in the Kingdom over five years, aiming to meet 20-40% of domestic demand for agricultural products and vegetables. These farms promote sustainable productivity, preserve natural resources, and reduce waste, introducing a new farming model for local farmers and businesses.

Urban farms provide high-quality vegetables and fruits, retaining their nutritional value for up to five times longer than traditional methods, promoting job localization, income potential, and overcoming logistical challenges, reducing labor and water usage.
